‘Lone Fighter’ is a stylish and unique full-size pocket square in silk and has been created in collaboration with contemporary artist Richard Knight. The technique of layers of mark making, texture, pattern and non-traditional colours combined with a natural observational drawing style brings a fresh perspective to his subject matter.
Richard's original work was created in acrylic on canvas and inspired by the ultimate iconic aircraft, the Spitfire, which acquired mythical status during the Battle of Britain. The work features the Mk IX Spitfire, introduced in 1942 with production continuing until April 1945, which makes it one of the most produced Spitfire variants.
The artwork is reproduced with a good balance of colour between the printed and reverse sides of the silk pocket square so works perfectly with any pocket square fold. The image is framed by the pocket square’s tangerine orange border and pale blue hand-rolled & hand-sewn hem.
'Lone Fighter' is presented in a complimentary Otway & Orford branded gift box with its blueberry-coloured lid and pale blue base. Inside each box, the high-quality Spitfire silk pocket square is tissue-wrapped and accompanied by a card telling the story of the artist and his vibrant artwork.
