‘Battle of Britain’ is a stylish and unique pocket square in silk with hand-sewn hem. It was created using artist Paul Nash's famous 'Battle of Britain' painting and is presented in a complimentary gift box.

'Battle of Britain’ is a stylish and unique full-size pocket square in silk and has been created using the famous aerial combat painting, 'Battle of Britain', by celebrated artist Paul Nash (1889-1946) in collaboration the Imperial War Museums (IWM). Nash had wide-ranging artistic and literary talents and was one of the most significant landscape painters of the first half of the 20th century. He is often remembered as a surrealist and war artist of both World Wars.

Dating from 1941, Nash’s original work was painted in oil on canvas and was one of four large works on the theme of aerial conflict commissioned from him by the War Artists’ Advisory Committee. The Chairman of the Committee, Kenneth Clark, recognised the allegorical nature of the painting, where it appears that defences rise out of the English landscape and attackers plummet to the earth that has defeated them.

The artwork is reproduced with a good balance of colour between the printed and reverse sides of the silk pocket square so works perfectly with any pocket square fold. The image is framed by the pocket square’s lilac blue border and cloud white hand-rolled & hand-sewn hem.
